Will it float or will it sink?
Class One have been scientists exploring different materials and their properties. We predicted, tested and recorded whether an object floated or sank when it was put in the water. We carefully put each object into the water and watched what happened!
There were one or two surprises!
But oranges are heavy?
We love fruit in Class One, but those oranges were a complete surprise!
How can such heavy objects float and why do they sink when you take the skin off?
We had a great time exploring the orange peel and discovering that the many tiny little air pockets in the peel help the orange float!
Samuel asked "Will it half float and half sink if we only take half of the peel off?
So we set out to find out and discovered that oranges still float with only a little bit of peel on just like you when you are wearing your armbands!
Wow Clever Stuff!
Seasons
Science is so exciting and always changing, just like the seasons. We love getting outside and using the different equipment to explore and discover how the seasons change and what that means for us.
